The city of New York is overpopulated by angels. It issufficient only to take the trouble and notice them. And upon discerning tocarefully peruse them. Those of them who made nests on the shiny tops of theglorious skyscrapers have been noted long ago, and it seems by everybody. Atleast all those who happen to come to Time Square for the first time certainly turn their heads up to observe their maneuvers.The angels of financial andlegal offices are hovering in the sparkling reflections of glass and titan abit lower and are also drawing attention of cameramen, musicians, men ofletters, have been sung and are being sung in pictures and movies as by the waythose who are dispersed among the visitors of the bars and galleries of Chelsea and Soho. The angels represented here are special. These are angels of the lower level. They live in the places where the verticals of facades created byarchitects famous and not very famous touch the horizontals of asphalt andconcrete. They do a connection between the Sky and the Earth, see to that everything that is constructed stay in their places despite the cataclysms sweeping over Manhattan.
